ELEVATIONS - BACK OF HOUSE

Our Back of House is designed as a work-in-progress for the owners' further designing as time passes. That is their stated interest and intention. So, the AG and Mrs. AG designed them a canvas with which to work: a high-walled backing to an open deck bracketed by a screened porch and the Master Bedroom and Hers Bath and Hers Closet on the right, set below an imposing dormer to weight and stabilize this house segment given the several proximate roofs, rooflines, and sizeable roof surfaces; a large gable-end; and a paring down of structure as we move to the far right of the Back Of House, though not without a reminder of the stateliness of this home by way of the L2 dormers in profile.
AG and Mrs. AG also offered their own thoughts and concerns in finishing the Back of House design, among them, the possibility of using the back-dropped high wall for decorative elements, bringing the Tuscan columns on the Front of House around to the Back of House, and a cautionary note about trying to do too much symmetrically with the windows in the gable end for their widely variant sizes, heights, and proximities to obstructions.
The Back of House, even in its interim state of home design, clearly defines a private, relaxed area suitable to many lower-keyed times when the owners kick back on their own or with family and close friends.
