This client of ours wholesaled a line of both construction and finish merchandise, and decided to go emphatically retail with their major brand of finish goods. The goods' manufacturer subcontracts retail sales, floor-loaded and wall-mounted sales modules for both construction, layout, delivery, and installation. We were asked to draw a floor plan suitable for the subcontractor's layout work.
Commercial Display Floor Plan, in PDF
There are several noteworthy points to this floor plan:
Typical architectural corners to centers and overall dimensions are beefed up with designations of and dimensions to bare walls. This assures that possibly incorrect or inexact dimension for wall space need not be interpolated.
Notes include reference to the lay and condition of walls.
Notes include the nature and character of the windows (all full, clear glass).
Notes include reference to floor lay and condition.
Notes include reference to ceiling lay and condition. (A subtlety herein is that we identified the ceiling as "soft", a shorthand for suspended and therewith easily subject to lighting rearrangement or even outright changes in lighting fixtures. If this ceiling had been hard, we would have identified they type, size, and site of each lighting fixture.
Because the floor area's configuration is essentially split into three pieces both physically and functionally (top squared area for customer transactions, middle rectangle of size for major display, lower squared area for entry and display introduction), we identified not only the square foot surface area of the entire showroom, but also we identified the square foot surface area of each of the three pieces. |
