BEFORE THE ARCHITECT – Mrs. AG's House Designs AND HOME BUILDING PLAN DESIGNS
KITCHEN QUICKIE
. . . . . . .
Not everything the AG and Mrs. AG has been humongo in scale and scope. Here are a before and after of a small kitchen that started out el-yucko and ended quite pleasantly. (Please note that while the design and workmanship are first-class, the photographs stink for quality reproduction. Apologies extended.)
How bad was this kitchen? The previous owner was a playwright of award-winning merit. (Scripts all over the place.) The kitchen was foul. Grease pooled deep below the rangetop. Food spattered ceiling, walls, and floors. The sink ran slow, and the bugs ran fast.
Mr. & Mrs. AG gutted the room to the studs and joists and rebuilt it to then-contemporary specs in this Cape Cod.
Designwise, Mrs. AG opened a wall to do 3 things -
make a useless closet a laundry.
make more of a useless closet a pantry.
make more of a useless closet opened in the middle of it for an eat-in bar and two doors - yep, one to the new laundry and one to the new pantry.
Big old useless closet it was.
Blecko-before.
Amicable-after.
