We get asked about all sorts of home building plans. Mostly, what do we think about what we were sent. We call these second opinions - second opinions of home building plans.
These home building plans second opinions to follow come from both stock plan submission and from custom design submission. As a general statement, we are summarily unimpressed by the quality of most others' work. Read on and get a grip on where we're coming from.
Residential Construction Plans — Second Opinion — Owner's Plans. A very talented draftsman in his own right drew plans for his next house with store-bought software. He asked Before The Architect to critique his drawings as both designers and builders.
Residential Construction Plans — Second Opinion — Stock Plans. Here comes a quickie review of a wretched stock plan. Folks way up north bought stock plans for big money in order to build a-way down south. They visited Before The Architect for a second opinion checkup. Good for them. Good they did.
A Plan Review - This commission involved XL spreadsheets of home floor plans, including kitchen floor plans and garage plans, on which we were asked to comment generally plus other questions of us about how to weatherproof an exterior balcony, and which of 2 pictured roof designs we preferred. This case study is an example of our address to specific issues raised by our clients.
