HOUSE PLAN - METAL CONNECTOR SCHEDULE

Once in a while, I come across a structure that belongs in an architectural hospice.  I reckon that's why God made engineers and bulldozers.  AG '04

BEFORE

"Please help me I'm falling...." (words and music by Hanck Locklin) is what's down when a residential structure in Zone 2B can get to shake and bake showtime.  Reinforcement and connector  schedules are so puny to AG's experience when done by others, he opted for sidewalk art by Julian Beever.

 AFTER

AG does not often get a request to specify metal connectors, but when he does, this is what a scheduled reply could look like.  In this instance, AG passed over repetition of very detailed reference to slab-on-grade connections in the Foundation Plan.  While Before The Architect design standards are generally stiffer than most codes, you’ll see a further stiffening herewith as the building site is in Seismic Zone 2B.

This schedule and others involving certain matters such as shearwalls and bracing AG directed to an engineer's final approval.
