Clients better served by others already know it all, reckon that what I do has to be – had better be – cheap and easy, already know from childhood what a home design and home drawing project ought to cost, have a perfect vision of exactly what something ought to look like way ahead of the first line drawn, and do not understand how everyone else can be so stoopid as to not share that vision, or they mistake me for a certified marriage counselor.  Worse clients pass through here like cracked corn through the Christmas Goose.   Before The Architect

HOME BUILDING TO DO SCHEDULE

INTRODUCTION

Herewith, a listing of home building to-do schedules used by this home designer.

This list is not complete; this list will not ever be complete.  Home building to-do schedules serve purposes which purposes are sometimes generally applicable and sometimes only immediately applicable.  The general stuff is likely well covered-up already; however, the one-off stuff is open-ended.  Gotta lot of info on home designing, home building, or bridging home designing and home building in order to present with comprehension, consistency, and discipline?  Then create another schedule.

This litany is cross-referenced to passage throughout the website.  Some are articles.  Some are simply expositions or lesser descriptions.  Some few have yet to be authored hereunder.

HOME BUILDING TO DO SCHEDULES

ATTIC AIR VENT SCHEDULE  In this home designer's opinion, most get this wrong.  Roofers'll love you for not paying attention to this stuff.

BATHROOM EXHAUST, OR AIR QUALITY, FAN SCHEDULE  Get serious about bathroom air quality.

BUILDING AUTHORITY SCHEDULE  . . . to help assure a clear communication of a complex home design.

CEILING FAN SCHEDULE  Often a last moment consideration - when there's the least time and, maybe the least framing and electrical wiring provision except on a demo-laden retrofit.  Or give it up for critical space air quality.

CONNECTOR SCHEDULE  . . . specify and rest easy . . . don't specify and wonder all your days.

DOOR SCHEDULE  Be sure you and the others know what goes where and how.

EMERGENCY EGRESS SCHEDULE  Get this wrong and it might not just be you suffering.

ENVIRONMENTAL SCHEDULE  This schedule can shape designing and building not only at the margins, but also at the core.  Didn't know about intermittent high wind conditions?  All that snow?  Fewer clear days than you'd reckoned?  More humidity than you'd expected?  What termites?  What can we do about high probability of decay?

FINISHING SCHEDULE  Maybe the most difficult to complete and maybe the most useful when begun early-on.

FIXTURE UNIT SCHEDULE  Not often called for, but you never know . . . especially in unusual designing opportunities, e.g., temporarily concealed baths or certain fixtures preplanned but not initially installed or larger layouts or exceptional applications.  Missing plumbing while roughing-in can be a major problem just down the home building road a-piece.

FOUNDATION DRAINAGE SCHEDULE  Foundation drainage is not often done to these high standards, in this home designer's opinion.

HEADER SCHEDULE  . . . for those who think the Code's swell.

INTERIOR LIGHTING, NIGHTLIGHTING FOR AGING EYES SCHEDULE - THE BASICS as referenced principally in text and included to The Math section.  This lays it all out in plainspeak.

INTERIOR LIGHTING, NIGHTLIGHTING FOR AGING EYES SCHEDULE - THE MATH  You'd think that the math would be in everybody's home designing kit bag and you'd be wrong.  One-of-kind home designing tool kit.

LIGHT FLUTTER SCHEDULE (BY WAY OF OK AND NOT-OK CEILING AREAS FOR DOWNLIGHTING, IN PLAN VIEW)  This is nowhere else to be found.  Priceless.

NATURAL ILLUMINATION, OR DAYLIGHTING, SCHEDULE   Let the sun shine in on your terms.

ROOF SLOPE SCHEDULE  One or two roof slopes - probably needn't bother.  Got six?  Or more?  Bother.

ROOF SLOPES SCHEDULE  This is what can come of 30+ roof planes in more than a half-dozen slopes, in order to be sure that what's expected is what's done.

SURFACE AREA SCHEDULE  While there's no furshur right way, there are plenty of wrong ways to detail a home's dimensions by not being specific and all-inclusive.

TRIM GUIDELINES SCHEDULE  Finish trim's like dressing for the party.  Make it yours.  Make it right.  Don't cheap it up.  Pay attention to what you're doing.

WATERSHED SCHEDULE You'll likely need to think over how much roof water runoff goes where on its way to grade.

WINDOW SCHEDULE   Be sure you and the others know what goes where and how.
