JOIST FRAMING FASTENERS
1) Joist to Sill, Top Plate, Beam, or Girder (Toe-nailed). 3 nails: 2.50”x 0.131" (8d common); 3"x 0.128" (10d box); 3"x 0.131"; 3.25"x 0.131". 4 nails: 3"x 0.120"; 3.25"x 0.120".

End Joist and Head Joist to Sill or Top Plate
(Toe-nailed). 1 nail at 6" on center: 3.50"x 0.162" (16d common). 1 nail at 4"
on center: 3"x 0.131"; 3.25"x 0.131"; 3.50"x 0.135" (16d box).

Joist Lap over Beams or Partitions (Face-nailed). 3
nails: 3.50"x 0.162" (16d common). 4 nails: 3"x 0.120"; 3.25"x 0.120"; 3.25"x
0.128" (12d box); 3"x 0.131"; 3.25"x 0.131".
4) Blocking between Floor Joists (Toe-nailed). 4 nails, 2 at each end: 2.50"x 0.131" (8d common); 3"x 0.128" (10d box); 3"x 0.131"; 3.25"x 0.131".
5) Bridging to Joists (Toe-nailed), number of nails at each end. 2 nails: 2.50"x 0.131" (8d common); 3" x 0.128" (10d box). 4 nails: 2"x 0.113"; 2"x 0.113"; 3 nails: 3"x 0.120"; 3.25"x 0.120".
6) End Joists and Head Joists to Common Joists (End-nailed). 3 nails: 3.50" x 0.162" (16d common). 6 nails: 3"x 0.120"; 3.25"x 0.120". 5 nails: 3"x 0.131"; 3.25"x 0.131"; 3.50"x 0.135" (16d box).

Ledger Strip to Beam, End Joist or Head
Joist (Face-nailed). Note: Fasteners may be required below each floor
joist, and such strips shall be considered neither permanent structure nor
permanent structural support, unless not less than:
a)
2”x 4”, and
b)
fully flushed to structure on wider dimension; and
c)
plated as in 9. Doubled Joists (Face-nailed)
immediately below.
8) Wood Block Anchor (number of nails each into joist and beam). 4 nails: 31.2"x 0.162" (16d common); 3.25"x 0.131"; 3.50"x 0.135" (16d box).
9) Doubled Joists (Face-nailed). 3 nails: 3.50"x 0.162" (16d common). 4 nails: 3"x 0.120"; 3.25"x 0.120"; 3.25"x 0.128" (12d box); 3"x 0.131"; 3.25"x 0.131". Evenly spaced in rows of 2 to x 6”s and rows of 3 for above, 6" on center, on 1 face.
10) Triple Joists (Face-nailed.) 3 nails: 3.50x 0.162" (16d common). 4 nails: 3"x 0.120"; 3.25"x 0.120"; 3.25"x 0.128" (12d box); 3"x 0.131"; 3.25"x 0.131". Evenly spaced in rows of 2 to x 6”s and of 3 for above, 6" on center, both faces.
11) Wood Beam to Joist. Not less than Simpson TS18, or equivalent, at each joint, with allowable uplift limit of 930 pounds.
12) Exterior wall frame to joist or truss. Not less than Simpson TS18, or equivalent, at each joint, with allowable uplift limit of not less than 930 pounds. DO NOT APPLY TO INTERIOR WALL FRAME CONNECTIONS TO TRUSS STRUCTURE WITHOUT EXPLICIT PERMISSION FROM TRUSS MANUFACTURER.
13) Interior wall frame to joist. Not less than Simpson TS9, or equivalent, at each joint, with allowable uplift not less than 530 pounds. DO NOT APPLY TO INTERIOR WALL FRAME CONNECTIONS TO TRUSS STRUCTURE WITHOUT EXPLICIT PERMISSION FROM TRUSS MANUFACTURER.
