INTRODUCTION
Appliance: An electrical device or electrical instrument designed to perform a specific function, notably an electrical device, such as a toaster, for household use. No, no, here we're not talking small electrical appliances, such as a clock radio, hair dryers or a . . . well, you know, that sort of thingy.
1) Appliances
a) shall not be located in
i) sleeping rooms
ii) anywhere in bathrooms
iii) storage closets
b) in a space that opens only into such a room or space
2) An appliance or other equipment that generates a glow, spark, or flame shall not be located within 18 linear inches of a garage floor
3) In order to protect an appliance or other equipment installed in a garage in other than fully in an alcove from physical damage, provide
a) not less than 3 linear inch concrete-filled metal post
b) with not less than a 2 linear feet embed and with a 30” extension above the garage floor
c) safety , through specifications regarding structure and materials.
4) A utility electric receptacle
a) shall not be placed flat to a counter in a kitchen counter area, peninsula, or island
b) shall not be placed below countertop level, as on the side of a counter, peninsula, or island
c) except a utility receptacle
i) may be placed in the parting wall of a two-tier counter, peninsula, or island
ii) if set flush to that wall and
iii) if protected by a ground fault electrical circuit wiring interrupter
d) otherwise, a utility receptacle in an island or peninsula shall be a pedestal receptacle wiring or pedestal electric outlet wiring, a/k/a tombstone receptacle wiring, tombstone electric outlet wiring, monument receptacle wiring, and monument electric outlet wiring
5) An appliance shall be GFCI protected
