HOUSE EXTERIOR WOOD TRIM SECTION DETAIL
IN ELEVATION
By Before The Architect Copyright 2008-2010
I have a tiny budget that I won't tell you about (or I'm just a loser on the loose), and I'll put up a big stink when you break over it or maybe even bill me at all. (Variants: I know what this should cost ['cause it's all I'm going to pay]; I know you’re cheaper, right?; I'm much too important to pay the going rate; I expect to benefit from your intellectual property way more than you'll benefit from my paying your fee, indeed, if I pay at all; I'm gonna wait for your first invoice or another later on, and put it on you that I didn't specifically authorize the work you did; I'm scratching around for the best for beaucoups less than the least.) This'd be akin to "no hat, no cattle." #2 of The 19 Deadly Sins.

Eave and Wall House Trim Section Detail in Elevation
Key: DIA=DIAMETER; LI=LINEAR INCH; NLT=NOT LESS THAN
1)
This detail in elevation arose because of an Architectural Review
Board’s need for assurance that a big, fancy home that Before The Architect was
designing did not get too fancy on the outside
a) the style would not warrant fancy exterior trim and clad, but stated respect for the design was notwithstanding
b) full-face elevations proved insufficient for the skeptics in the crowd, so a section in elevation seemed not just appropriate but downright necessary
2) Before The Architect chose to
a) not only annotate for all that got crammed into a small space on the drawing, but
b)
also to specify one important exterior wood trim
preparation step that’s often passed over – sealing all surfaces before
application, including all bleeders or potential bleeders, the latter with not
less than two light coats of spray shellac inside or out
