Tuscanyified American Piedmont – Front Of House, in Elevation

This intermediate drawing started out as a stock plans of, in this designer's opinion, borderline grotesquery.

No more.

Garage wing revolved 90 degrees from 45 degrees away to 45 degrees toward, shortened on the front face to severely edit a gaping wall expanse, and roof lines converted entirely to hip, to aid in forming up a turnaround of substance

Rooflines simplified and reproportioned for the secondary roofs’ intersections with the primary, in the course of which a confusion of dormers is wiped out, along with a designwise unnecessary hip ridge, and the central dormer is reset and resized to belong and not burden

The interruptive gable end  and tallish roof planes over habitable respect this custom dream home design's roots (such as they are) in American Piedmont soil

Timbered shutters below lintels predominate

Windows are casements, mulled when grouped, and with nowadays stock muntins that could pass for Tuscany better than other stocks, except, possibly, Milgard’s Tuscany designated fenestration

Columns are correctly Tuscany

All but one roof dormer double for daylight the interiors

Roofing is cementitious in rougher slatelike appearance, mixing color including approaches to terra-cotta tones and hues

While the Front Porch and Portico are all stone, the remainder of Front Of House is masonry stucco above watertable above stone uninterruptedly from L1 and shingle on L2 elements

Cornice and raking trim, returns, return caps, etc. are simple and correct

Whimsy = the Portico's roofline is cunning, adapted from a design creation hereabouts several years ago . . . it and its reflection in two of the roof dormers' roofs majorly softens and welcomes

Design license (a perishable thought) = no fleur-de-lis . . . this ain't Frenchified, eh?

Comment:  Extensive design guidance in text reference to every major aspect of Tuscany interiors' elements and features trim packages, along with subsequent, companion references by force of the Finishing Schedule and interiors' elevations will support the clients’ subsequent interests in Tuscany interiors design.
