JUST TOO MUCH

LYRICS BY RALPH PRESSEL

 © 1990 Ralph Pressel

Chorus:

This is just too much:

Look but do not touch;

Touch but do not take;

Take but do not fake

This for me or this for you.

Stanza #1:

To every king and queen – ropedancers –

Your gen'ral and your gov'nor,

You hear me loud and clear!  You hear me well!

Know:  Everyone can question answers;

That nothing lasts forever;

That just as sure as heaven there's a hell!

Stanza #2:

You!  High and haughty!  Let us all pray.

You scheme to cage a phantom.

The Reaper's hands you cannot speed or stall,

Unless you stake my future to pay

Some wand'ring piper's ransom.

Know:  borrow from our past or not at all!

Stanza #3:

Our spaces hold us tight, as bullrings,

Sky, borders, buildings rise so high,

The deepest valley's fog where nothing's clear.

There's some sense "man-made" labels all things;

Reality, man's mind's eye.

Know: you can get to anywhere from here!
